Past the tower, to the northeast, you should find Ace’s Log Book Pages on the ground. Use your party member with the right Computer Science to fix this. If you start to examine the tower it will be revealed that you can resplice some wires if one of your party has the tech skills. You can now continue to explore this new area. This will give you coordinates on your Party Map to a Mysterious Shrine. Choose the Break conversation menu and use the Kiss Ass cue to convince him to let you pass without incident. Go along the north path until you meet Spyke Alpha who wants 15 Scrap to let you pass. Follow this blood trail up to where the path forks and go left to the bush with the glowing orb above it. Once this is done, go north where you’ll come across a large blood stain on the floor.

Radiation can be a killer, so avoid where possible, or if you must go through a path that brings you close to radiation, be very careful. You’ll also need to keep close watch on the radiation meter in the bottom left of the HUD. You should also be careful that the fog of war covers unexplored locations. When you move your cursor around the screen a small set of numbers will show you how much water it costs to make that move. Keep an eye on water and radiation as you learn how to use the World and Party maps. If you have any junk you can sell it off to the trader (if you can, stock up on ammo), then go to the revolving globe and click on it to enter the wasteland. Now you’ve got all the little bits of loot/gear, you’ll be heading out to the desert. There’s a mound of dirt here you can dig up using your shovel, then go back again to the Rangers, stopping to dig up yet another mound of dirt. She’s got quite a story to tell, and will ask if she can tag along with your group. Now go back past the Rangers sitting on the floor and along the path and you’ll come across Angela. When you see the NPC cleaning the walls of graffiti, use the shovel on the mound of dirt nearby for a handful of items and Scrap.
Past the trader you’ll find three Rangers sitting around, but just pass them by as you go along the path north. This is the spot to come to when you need to buy armour and ammo for your weapons. There’s not much to buy at this point, but remember the trader’s location for the future.
You’re not able to access the Citadel entrance just yet, so go over the wooden bridge north to meet the first trader. With the conversation complete head north, picking up the shovel on the way to the Ranger Cemetery. You’ll need to find the repeaters that Ace was carrying before he was killed. When he shows you the Party Map you’ll be given the location of your first mission. Once the first cutscene has played out, begin the conversation with General Vargas. Grab your shovel and gear up before heading out into the desert.
